Is Vegas X Legal in Your State?

It depends on your state, and the rules changed a lot in 2025 and 2026. At least eight states had banned sweepstakes-style casinos outright by mid-2026, and Vegas X’s own terms exclude several more. This page is information, not legal advice.

How sweepstakes casinos are treated by US states

Sweepstakes casinos say they are not gambling because you can play without buying anything and prizes are awarded through a promotional sweepstakes. States increasingly disagree. In 2025 and 2026 a wave of laws banned “dual-currency” sweepstakes casinos outright, and state officials and cities filed lawsuits against operators and their suppliers.[1–2]

Vegas X sits in a grey area even within that model. Reviewers describe purchases and redemptions handled by independent sellers rather than a single regulated operator.[3]

Source: DeucesCracked (May 2026) and PlayUSA (July 2026).[1–2] In May 2026, bans were also moving through Oklahoma, Tennessee and Louisiana. Laws change quickly — always check your state gaming regulator or attorney general’s website for the current position.

States excluded by Vegas X’s own terms

According to GamingToday, Vegas X’s terms exclude players in Nevada, Idaho, Kentucky and Washington. The reviewer notes this list hadn’t been updated to reflect newer bans in states such as California, New Jersey, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Oklahoma and Tennessee, so players must check eligibility themselves.[3]

Using a VPN doesn’t change the law

If sweepstakes casinos are banned where you are, connecting through a VPN doesn’t make it legal, and it can lead to closed accounts and lost balances.

How to check the law in your state

  1. Search your state gaming commission or attorney general site for “sweepstakes casino”. Use the official .gov site.
  2. Look for the date. Many laws took effect in 2025–2026; older articles may be wrong.
  3. Check the platform’s own terms for excluded states.
  4. When in doubt, don’t play. Losses on unlicensed platforms are hard to recover.

Age rules

Sweepstakes platforms typically require players to be at least 18, and some states set 21. If you’re under the age limit where you live, you can’t legally take part — and no legitimate seller will sign you up.
